Dear HUUSD Community,
The Board would like to share two announcements:
- The Central Vermont Career Center School District is looking for a member from our community to join the board.
- On Monday, March 24 at 6:00 pm at HUHS, there will be a public forum to get input on the Governor's education proposal.
1. CVCCSD Seeks Board Member
The Central Vermont Career Center School District (CVCCSD) Board is made up of 10 members: 6 appointed from district sending school boards and 4 at-large from each of the largest sending districts. Our HUUSD at-large seat on the CVCCSD Board was not filled on Town Meeting Day. As a result, the CVCCSD Board is seeking interested candidates.
Board member Corey Hackett has served on the CVCCSD board for the past few months as the district's board appointee and has found it to be a great experience. The other members and administrative team are passionate about this program and the opportunity for our community students.
If you are interested in being appointed to a one-year seat, please write to Alice Farrell, Board Chair, at [email protected], and Jody Emerson, Superintendent/Director, at [email protected], or mail your application c/o Central Vermont Career Center, 155 Ayers Street, Barre, VT 05641. Interested parties will be invited to speak and may be interviewed at the April 14, 2025, board meeting before the Board makes its appointments.

As Vermonters we understand the importance of showing up to make sure our voices are heard. Knowing the stakes are high for the future of public education in Vermont in general and the impact on our own schools in particular, we encourage all HUUSD community members to attend this important event.
Thank you,
The HUUSD Board
