The HUUSD School Board met in person (with an option for remote participation) Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
The meeting began with public comment: Beth Gravelle of Moretown offered comments regarding impacts at Harwood Union related to the current failed budget vote.
Board Reports:
- Leadership - No report was provided for this meeting; Ashley noted that there will be a discussion related to public input at an upcoming meeting.
- Superintendent - Dr. Mike highlighted that he has testified at the State House recently regarding some education topics being discussed. He also raised a matter of a local family applying to complete the school year even though moving out of the District, and received feedback from the Board regarding how to proceed with approving the request.
- Director of Finance -
- Lisa Estler provided some information regarding the recent audit report.
- Lisa compiled a report for Board members called Proposed FY25 Salary Projections and Dates, which provides salary information and adjustments made to projections over the past few months.
- Board Reports - Steve reported that the Publicity Committee will hold its first meeting on April 11.

The three candidates recommended by the Waterbury Select Board--Elizabeth Brown, Dan Roscioli, and Corey Hackett--introduced themselves.
In action items, the Board:
- The board approved a motion to approve the appointment of new Waterbury board members.
- Approved a motion to accept the 2022-2023 audit.
- Approved a motion to establish a Finance Committee and to appoint Steve, Bobbi, Mike, and Jonathan to that Committee.
- Approved a motion to establish an Equity Committee and to appoint Life and Tori to that Committee.
