The HUUSD School Board met in person (with an option for remote participation) on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
The meeting began with public comment: Nobody offered public comment for the board.
Board Reports:
- Students - Ellie reported on Harwood happenings - exchange programs, sports activities, winter carnival, the spring musical, and more. Naomi explained how the All School Dialogue related to the student bond discussions unfolded, and provided some related data. Board members thanked the students for their work with the Board.
- Superintendent - Dr. Mike provided the 2024-25 school year calendar information.
- Board Reports - Dr. Mike and Lisa Estler provided some legislative updates, and noted that the yield figure has changed again, which implies a lower tax impact for the proposed budget.
Topics for discussion:
- March Meeting 91探花 - Options for the reorganizational meeting and potential further budget discussions were explained. The alternate schedule discussed would only need to be implemented if the budget does not pass.
In action items, the Board:
- Approved Professional Staff Employment and Changes in Status as of 2/13/2024
Board members not running for re-election were provided an opportunity to reflection on their time on the Board. Marlena, Kelley, and Kristen each spoke of their experiences.

Additionally, at the beginning of each Board meeting, we invite public comment. Alternatively, reach out to one of your neighbors on the school board and share your thoughts in a personal email or phone call (see a list of Board members and contact information at).
The Board’s next meeting will be on March 13, 2024 for board reorganization following Town Meeting. If the budget is not passed on Town Meeting Day, there will be a special Zoom-only reorganization and budget meeting on March 8. Community members may attend in person in the Harwood library or remotely via Zoom (), or watch it broadcast live on Youtube (). Agendas and other related documents are available at huusd.org.
