The HUUSD School Board met in person (with an option for remote participation) on Wednesday January 17th.
No one spoke during public comment.
Board Reports:
- Superintendent - Dr. Mike answered some questions regarding budgeting and the implications of a budget increase between 5% and 10%.
- Board Reports - The upcoming Bond Presentation schedule was outlined.
Topics for Discussion:
- New Logo - Dr. Mike presented the two options for an official school district set of logos, and answered questions and received feedback from Board members. Dr. Mike offered to have the designers make some modifications, and bring the changes back for further consideration.
- Board Compensation - The stipend provided to Board members was discussed, and it was agreed that future consideration of this matter would be most appropriate.
- Budget - Lisa provided updated budget scenarios for Board members’ consideration. She first shared a revised Scenario 1, as there will be some significant salary changes in the coming year. She then provided per pupil costs, tax implications, reserve fund amounts, and other funding complexities for Scenario 1 as well as the hybrid Scenario 4 she had created based upon Board feedback at the previous meeting. Lisa answered questions from Board members, which generally focused on what amount to put into which reserve funds.
In Action Items, the Board:
- Approved the Transportation Contract’s second year addendum at a 3.2% contract increase
- Approved the HUUSD Notice of Availability of Annual Report and FY2025 Budget

This is a major undertaking that will have an impact on school district programs and finances for years to come, so your input is crucial. Please participate!
