The HUUSD School Board met in person (with an option for remote participation) last Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
The meeting began with public comment:

Brian Fleisher spoke about the opportunity for making public comments at meetings as well as for students participating in bond discussions.
Board Reports:
- Superintendent – There were no questions concerning Dr. Mike’s written report.
- 360 Survey Development Committee – Danielle noted that the survey is complete and a timeline has been set for the project.
Topics for discussion:
- Budget – Lisa gave a slide presentation on the legislative history of VT’s school funding and funding formula development, and showed how upcoming calculations impact different FY25 budget scenarios.
- Preview of Harwood Bond Presentation – Dr. Mike gave an overview of the contents of the draft presentation, and board members provided feedback and suggestions for the community meetings.
In action items, the Board:
- Approved a motion to warn the following policies: E1 Fiscal Management and General Financial Accountability, E10 Travel Reimbursement, E22 Capitalization of Assets, and G14 Class Size.
- Approved deletion of Policy E6: Safety and Security of School Facilities.

The community will be receiving further information in the coming weeks with summaries of the three main categories. This is a major undertaking that will have an impact on school district programs and finances for years to come, so your input is crucial. Please participate!

Additionally, at the beginning of each Board meeting we invite public comment. Alternately, reach out to one of your neighbors who is on the school board and share your thoughts in a personal email or phone call (see a list of Board members and contact information at).
