The HUUSD School Board met in person (with an option for remote participation) last Wednesday October 25, 2023.
The meeting began with public comment: NONE
Board Reports:
- Students – Two new student representatives were introduced: Ellie Buckingham and Lincoln Dice. The student representatives discussed student interest in joining bond discussions.
- Superintendent – Dr. Mike discussed his written report.
Topics for discussion:
- Personnel Recruitment/Retention – Tanya Cheney gave an overview of her new position as Director of Human Resources for the District and her initiatives.
- Budget – Lisa Estler provided financial updates, requested budget breakdowns and budget development scenarios.
In action items, the Board:
- Approved a motion for the following policies for adoption: F9 Transportation, G12 Title 1 Comparability, G13 Animal Dissection, and F34 Meal Charge.
- Approved a motion to approve for warning the following: Deletion of Policy E6: Safety and Security of School Facilities.

The Board’s next meeting will be on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 6:00pm. Community members may attend in person in the Harwood library or remotely via zoom (), or watch it broadcast live on Youtube (). Agendas and other related documents are available at huusd.org.
