The HUUSD School Board met in person (with an option for remote participation) last Wednesday, 10/11/23.
The meeting began with public comment. No one requested time to address the Board.
Board Reports:
- Superintendent - No Board members had questions for Dr. Mike.
- Director of Finance - Lisa discussed the “very preliminary” budget for Fiscal Year 2025. Discussion centered around the ending of ESSER funding next September and that impact on the budget. Lisa highlighted other items from her report and answered questions from Board members. She and Dr. Mike provided guidance on the upcoming budget planning process. Dr. Mike noted that 71% of the budget is in salary and benefits and the other 29% contains many fixed costs.
- Professional Development Committee chair, Bobbi provided an update asking that the survey she provided be completed by all Board members who had not yet completed it.
- Bond Committee - Ashley and Cindy provided an update on the Bond Committee’s work and plans for public outreach. The draft timeline takes the process through a bond vote on November 5, 2024. It was requested that the Bond Committee put together a bulleted list of talking points that Board members can use in responding to community questions.

- F34 Meal Charge
- A motion to adopt the following policies passed without objection.
- D7 Volunteers and Work Study Students
- D11 Drug & Alcohol Testing: Transportation Employees
- E8 Tobacco Prohibition
